Applying to Become a Tutor

Undergraduates: Freshmen and sophomores who are interested in applying to become tutors in the Writing Center must be nominated by an instructor.  In early April, the Writing Center solicits nominations from Hopkins faculty of students they believe are promising candidates.  If you would like to become a tutor in the Writing Center, you can ask an instructor with whom you've taken a writing-intensive course to nominate you.  Students who have been nominated are contacted by the Writing Center with further information about the application process.  All undergraduate tutors are required to participate in a one-credit training course offered only in the fall term of every academic year.

Graduate Students: Graduate students in all disciplines are invited to apply in early December or in early April.  Your application should include a cover letter explaining your interest in tutoring and highlighting relevant experience; your resume or CV; and a sample of your academic writing.  Contact Jason
Hoppe at jasonhoppe@jhu.edu for further information and application deadlines.
